Supracor's high-performance Stimulite® honeycomb featured in Hill-Rom's medical support surfaces

SAN JOSE, CA, August 18, 2008—Supracor is proud to announce that it has granted Anodyne Medical Device, Inc. and its customer, Hill-Rom® (NYSE:HRC), exclusive worldwide use of Stimulite honeycomb in their line of medical sleep support surfaces.

Anodyne is the nation’s leading designer and manufacturer of innovative support surfaces and positioning devices. A renowned developer and manufacturer of hospital beds, surfaces and other medical technology for almost 80 years, Hill-Rom specified Stimulite to provide high-performance pressure redistribution for the prevention and treatment of pressure sores in moderate to high-risk patients.

The Anodyne design and engineering team is committed to bringing new technology to the support surface and positioning device market. The team tested and confirmed the benefits of the Stimulite material for a medical support surface. Anodyne collaborated with Hill-Rom to integrate Stimulite into the mattress replacement marketed as Hill-Rom’s NP200 Wound Surface. This product, combined with other features of the NP200 Wound Surface, offers a comprehensive approach to helping health care facilities address the wound care needs of their patients. The innovative new Wound Surface utilizes different configurations of Stimulite to create multiple zones of fine-tuned pressure relief that self-adjusts to the patient.

“Creating multiple zones in a non-powered mattress provides an ideal support surface for both acute and long term care,” said Susan Wilson, vice president and creative director of Supracor. “Stimulite’s ability to be engineered to meet the customer’s specifications made the design possible.”

A soft, flexible form of aerospace honeycomb, Stimulite has a proven track recordamong wheelchair users. Stimulite wheelchair cushions provide Total Pressure Management®—pressure relief, reduced shearing and ventilation to control heat and moisture—the key to pressure sore prevention. Stimulite distributes weight uniformly across its surface to eliminate pressure points. The honeycomb cells flex with movement to minimize shearing, while perforations in the cells’ walls circulate air and evaporate moisture.

In a support surface like the NP200, tens of thousands of spring-like cells contour to body shape, stimulating blood flow to improve circulation while preventing heat build-up and humidity.

Supracor is the originator of Stimulite and flexible, fusion-bonded honeycomb technology utilized in products that promote the health and safety of people and animals. Initially applied to wheelchair cushions for pressure sore prevention, Stimulite is the basis of a unique line of personal care products. Exclusively made in California’s Silicon Valley from American-made, recyclable materials, Supracor’s versatile honeycomb products can be found in diverse, high-performance applications such as military body armor, jet fighter aircraft seats and bumpers for amusement park rides.
