Supracor introduces its new Adjustable Contoured Cushion featuring Stimulite® honeycomb

SAN JOSE, CA, May 6, 2020—After months of development and rigorous testing, Supracor is pleased to announce the introduction of the Stimulite Adjustable Contoured Cushion which will join its family of wheelchair cushions featuring Stimulite honeycomb. This new cushion which is the next generation of the popular Stimulite Contoured Cushion maintains all of its features and benefits with the new ability to be customized for the user’s changing physical and functional needs.

Like all Stimulite cushions, the new Adjustable Contoured Cushion provides excellent positioning and superior pressure management. The multi-layered honeycomb is shaped into a subtle contour and specially engineered with soft and firm areas. A rear dish provides optimal pelvic positioning for improved posture and stability.

An adjustment cavity at the bottom of the cushion allows the user or caregiver to easily customize the cushion by selecting from multiple Stimulite honeycomb inserts that vary in softness. The softer insert allows for more immersion as compared to the firmer inserts. Removing the inserts all together provides additional relief to users with bony protuberances. In addition to adjusting the immersion, skin protection and positioning properties of the cushion, the bottom insert layer can also be used to address other positioning needs, such as pelvic obliquities.

“Our goal was to design a cushion that gave as many options as possible to modify the cushion to accommodate the user’s changing needs, which was easy to do,” said Susan Wilson, vice president of engineering for Supracor. “We also wanted to give more options for adjustment to therapists, not only in terms of immersion, but to address other clinical issues, such as pelvic obliquities.”

Like all Stimulite cushions, the new Adjustable Contoured Cushion combats pressure injuries with its complete approach to pressure management. Pressure, shearing and maceration—softening of the skin due to heat and moisture—are the primary causes of pressure injuries. Stimulite cushions uniformly distribute pressure through their cellular matrix. The cells flex with movement to reduce shearing and are perforated to prevent heat build-up and evaporate moisture, keeping the user cool and dry. Stimulite cushions address the primary causes of pressure injuries by providing Total Pressure Management®.

Machine washable and dryer safe, the new Stimulite Adjustable Contoured Cushion is available in width and depth sizes ranging from 14 to 20 inches and is reimbursable under HCPCS code E2624 or E2625. For more information, visit us at www.supracor.com.
