Supracor and BASF Partnering To Reduce Weight and Increase Comfort In Aircraft Seating
SAN JOSE, CA, December 10, 2012—Silicon Valley-based Supracor is partnering with BASF’s Aerospace Team to reduce the weight of aircraft seat cushions while enhancing their comfort.
Supracor’s Stimulite® honeycomb made from BASF’s Elastollan® TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) combines the lightweight cellular matrix of aerospace honeycomb with the resilience of TPU to produce seat cushions that
are light and durable with a low profile for more living space in the cabin.
Perforations in the cell walls circulate air to eliminate the heat build-up associated with foam cushioning while the footprint of the elastomeric cells and their flexing action promotes blood circulation.
