Shawn Flarida
Discipline: Reining
Hometown: Wilmington, Ohio
Birth Date: April 30, 1969
Inducted into the NRHA Hall of Fame in 2000, Shawn Flarida is one of the most popular riders in the sport of reining. He has earned over $2,000,000 in NRHA winning, and has an amazing twenty-five All-American Quarter Horse Congress Championships to his credit.
When asked who his favorite horse of all time is, Flarida replied "Moores Generator. I was 14 years old when I showed him. He had the biggest heart of any horse I have ever ridden. He would always willingly do anything I asked. Most importantly, he taught me to have respect for my partner— the horse."
Away from the show ring, Flarida enjoys watching football, especially the Dallas Cowboys. His best hobby he says, however, is "spending time with the family." Flarida is married to Michelle, and they have one son, Cody, who is five years old.
An early supporter of Supracor's Reining and Roping Pad, Flarida continues to give astute and positive feedback on the product line.
Congratulations for his recent titles; 2006 Reining Masters Gold Medal, 2006 National Reining Breeders Classic Open Derby Champion and 2006 All American Quarter Horse Congress Open Futurity Champion.
