Jody Cunningham has over 30 years of personal experience in starting colts for any and all disciplines. After all, the start is the same whether a horseman is going to ride the trail or a trainer is going into the arena. In addition to bred-to-the-bone horsemanship, Cunningham is also a trained farrier. A dedication to his craft has made Cunningham one of the top names in the farrier trade.

Cunningham graduated from the New Mexico State University Farrier School and is a Master Certified Farrier. He has experience with horses from the race track to the show ring to the rodeo arena. Cunningham has worked the ranches and sale barns of New Mexico and Colorado, and has worked as a guide in the mountains of both states. He's an adventurer, with a great collection of stories topped by a trip to the Aleutian Islands of Alaska to gather and ride the wild horses found there.

Cunningham's practical horsemanship is geared toward the practical horseman. No tricks. No whispering. He believes in the tried and true methods and says all you need in an open mind and you will be able to gain the respect of your horse and to understand  his language. "We all need to stop a minute and realize that before we can go any further with our horses we need to take a few steps back and learn the basics of horsemanship." His clinics include attention to the fact that horses are like humans in that they have feelings and emotions. His students learn that once they read the horse's body language and understand its instincts, they will be able to enjoy full communication with their horse. Cunningham's home is in Grapeland, Texas, and his schedule of clinics takes him all over the United States. Cunningham is also a strong believer in preventative health care for horses.
